Maya Funnekotter–Noordam is a graduate of the VVV tourism school in The Hague, The Netherlands. At first she worked in a number of 5* hotels in Amsterdam. After some years she went to Spain where she held various positions in the hotel & tourism industry. Back in The Netherlands she graduated from her GIVAK study which made her a licensed tour guide and took up inbound and outbound guiding for tourists and the corporate market.
Furthermore she got certificates in varied subjects like art history, political science and philosophy. She was elected for two consecutive terms (8 years) as municipal councilor of her hometown Haarlem. From 2010 – 2013 she served as chairman on the board of GUIDOR, the Dutch national organization for licensed, professional tour guides.
Maya works as tour guide, private guide, event- and conference planner and also as your representative for hospitable reception and entertainment of (foreign) guests or business relations of profit and not-for-profit enterprises. Furthermore she is active as relocation consultant for expats coming to The Netherlands. She is fluent in English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish. Maya travelled with her guests in over 25 countries on almost all continents.
